Factors to consider when selecting a helmet for an individual include:
- Level of physical activity
- Likelihood of impact with surfaces (floor, walls, furniture, etc.)
- Tendency towards self-harm
- Frequency and severity of seizures or spasticity
- Duration of wear
While helmets can significantly reduce the risk of head injuries, it's crucial to note that no device can prevent all injuries. Healthcare professionals are best positioned to assess the specific requirements of each individual in various settings. It is vital to seek advice from a healthcare professional when deciding on the use of headgear.
Danmar Hard Shell Helmet Sizing
Since proper fit is important for the comfort of the person wearing headgear, measurements should be determined by professional personnel.
(A) Measure the head circumference at eyebrow level all the way around the head.
(B) Occipital measurement is taken from eyebrow level to the back of the head at the point that the helmet is to end.
(C) Over the top of the Head from the tip of one ear to the tip of the other ear.
If for some reason the measurements do not fall within the below guidelines, or if there are other considerations to be taken into account, please contact us for information on Custom Helmets.
