SDO® Original is a custom-made Lycra® garment classified as a Class 1 medical device. The SDO® Gauntlet can either aid or resist wrist extension while supporting the thumb in functional extension and abduction. It is beneficial for managing increased muscle tone or instability caused by hypermobility. SDO® Original garments can cover the digits as well (see SDO® Glove), particularly when MCP extension is needed. These garments can be worn below or above the elbow. The SDO® Original Gauntlet is individually tailored, allowing for the addition of reinforcement panels to aid wrist, thumb extension, and abduction. By selecting from a variety of reinforcement panels, along with the garment style and chosen theme, the desired outcome can be achieved.
